All the boys love Mandy Lane


        In this slasher film All the boys love Mandy Lane, you see a set of high school kids, the two high strung, overly sexual teenage girls, Marlin and Chole, the three boys, Red who takes the role of the smoker, and the joker, Bird the typical jock, buff and brave, then Jake who isn't a gentleman by any means and is a very aggressive sexual being who wants Chole, Marlin and the pure untouched virgin, Mandy Lane who decided to head to Reds' Ranch for what was supposed to be a fun and                                         wild weekend, wild nonetheless.

        Many Lane doesn't fit into this tight knit group very well, but she fakes it until she makes it. Her "friend" Emmet seems to be more her pace, a loner and those two seemed to have an odd friendship. But Mandy Lane leaves him for the popular crowd. You find out quickly into the murders, that Emmet is behind it all and takes the killing out each person pretty personal. It starts to play out as the typical slasher film two dramatic, light headed girls, sex hungry teenage boys, and the virgin all out at a secluded Ranch, are being hunted down.  


        These murders, Marlins in particular, was like she was being punished for giving oral to Jake in the barn- a run had been shoved down her throat, and jaw broken. Women are over sexualized in horror movies, labeled "The Whore" and are always expected to die. In slasher films, the virgin is known to go last, and in some cases make it out alive; lucky for Mandy Lane, she was the "Final Girl" the purest girl, the one untouched was the one to bet the odds, and live through the murderous madness. Not only is she the Final Girl, but she is the one behind the murders, who put Emmet up to the terrible task to kill these kids from their high school. 

In Clovers reading the topic of the Final Girl was mentioned, in this scene Mandy Lane had perceived to Chole as comfort, and help, but then stabs her as soon as Chole embraces her. Mandy is the Final girl in the sense she is the last girl living at the end, because she was the master mind throughout the whole operation.  

        All the boys wanted a piece of Mandy Lane, a man died for it, and many tired for it, even Emmet. In his final moments Mandy planted a kiss and while he told her he loved her, and would do anything for her, she says "You shouldn't do anything for me" and try's to kill him. Mandy is desirable to all these men because no one has ever gotten to her, and the Ranch trip was made to get to her by each one of the boys calling "dibs" on her. She was the perfect girl to play the innocent role at the end when the farm hand Garth and her get "away" from Emmet the murder. At the end Garth looks to her and says "You did it" …."you saved us" and with a "yeah she did it" smile back they drive off.

Dracula (Bela Lugosi)

Mina... but Womanly First off, I'd like to undisputably say that Tod Browning's Dracula  (1931) is the BEST adaptation of Dracula I have seen besides the original novel. It excellently builds and sustains suspense through the entire motion picture, has Bela Lugosi doing an incredible performance of the caped vampire, and had great characterization of each character that appeared on the screen. He also changed the story a bit, most notably having Renfield be the one who initially travels to Castle Dracula and also having Mina be Dr. Seward's daughter... Speaking of Mina. Mina in the original adaptation of Dracula, the one written by Bram Stoker, is a girl who is the fiancee of Jon Harker, and she is very open-minded, brave, and demonstrates qualities that of a man, in the sense of her mental thinking. Buffy's Halloween: Gender Analysis

Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, released in March 1997, has been acclaimed to be ahead of its time with topics of gender and putting a new twist on typical horror that we've come to love. Season 2 Episode 6, Halloween, is a perfect example. The episode takes place around Halloween, obviously, with several decorations around the school and the town of Sunnydale. Buffy's school is doing a volunteer opportunity to take little kids trick-or-treating. Well, mostly volunteer till Buffy's principal, Principal Snider, makes Buffy, Willow, and Xander sign up for the event. This is an example of a man abusing his power, but I'll discuss that later. All of the "volunteers" must wear a costume that night for the event. Xander gets his manhood crushed, again, and we see relationship drama with Buffy and Angel.
