Candyman

You would expect Candyman to be a predictable and stereotypical horror movie. But I really believe it wasn't. It caught you off guard, it left you questioning. It also really didn't have a lot of the typical stereotypes you would normally see. which kind of made it different than the rest of the horror movies. At the same time, it did have horror movie attributes.
Helen when she was explaining how
Candyman can actually be a real person

At first, this movie started off like any horror movie. With a warning about the monster Candyman. A college student told the story of a stereotypical dumb blond who said his name five times in the mirror and dies.  Then the main character gets introduced her name is Helen and she's clearly going to be the final girl. She is this white female who is very educated and wants to study the folk tail of candyman. what ends up happening is she starts showing that candyman
When Helen was in the mental hospital and
she saw candyman
isn't real so now candyman is after her.

There weren't really any stereotypical teenagers in this movie. Throughout this movie, it talked about poverty, discrimination, as well as racism in our justice system. This is why this movie was very unpredictable. You didn't really know who was going to die. Then it was also a true question on if Candyman was real or if the final girl really was going crazy.

The typical stuff that this horror movie had was that Helen was warned everywhere about Candyman. She ignored it and kept trying to get to the truth on Candyman in till it was too late. Then you could look at the scenes where she showed her breasts where really that wasn't needed but it was the sexual part of all horror movies. You can also talk about the scene where she went back to her house after escaping the mental hospital and she caught her husband living with another girl. This girl was very girly and seemed dumb as well. Lastly, you can look at the typical weapon she got out each time Candyman attacked she always grabbed a kitchen knife.
When Helen wakes up in Anne-Marie house
and there's blood everywhere
The last thing is the ending of the movie. There was a twist where you found out that Helen looks like the girl candyman fell in love with and got pregnant when he was a slave. Helen ends up saving the baby that he stole and killed him. But the finale girl died as well. This is where it's different from the other horror movies. The last scene was very unpredictable where  Helen is now the monster you repeat her name 5 times and she kills you. She has shown this from when her cheating husband did it, the final girl is now the Candyman.
When Helen came back from the dead and killed her husband
with Candyman's hook.
